Thesis

Because technology increases creativity, improves cognitive function, and acts as an external source of memory, we as a society should integrate technology more. The best way we can use technology to achieve these effects are to incorporate more technology into educational and work environments.

Increases Creativity

Internet has encouraged creativity on a basis of recreation, collaboration, and synthesis. Shifting from casually viewing entertainment, the internet allows us to be more creative and more inspired by the content that is constantly uploaded to it. Although many creations on the internet are based off copies of original works, people are able to transform these creations into original content.

Improves cognitive function

Using internet search engines triggers the parts of the brain that control decision making and complex reasoning and overall increases cognitive function. Traditionally, activities such as crosswords and puzzles were used to keep the brain engaged and healthy, but with technology, scientists are starting to consider computer use

An External Source of Memory

By relying on the internet as a secondary memory, we no longer restricted by the capacity of the human brain. With the presence of data retrieval services, we no longer need rely on our memory as much as we used to before. People who use the internet more tend to use sites like Google as an external source of memory for their information. If people know they can find information more easily through the internet, they have no need to remember it as much.
